Furthermore, the system leverages Africa's Talking to fire off automated SMS fee receipts instantly when a payment clears, alongside automated absence alerts, drastically reducing the time administrators spend on the phone.
Built to Scale: The Technical Edge
Under the hood, WIK Scholar is built on a highly modern, resilient stack. It uses Next.js 14 for the frontend and is backed by a TiDB Serverless MySQL database, ensuring the system never buckles during peak traffic (like end-of-term report card generation).
To ensure the web interface remains lightning fast, heavy background jobs—such as processing bulk SMS broadcasts or generating 1,000 PDFs at once—are offloaded to Inngest.
